I'm such a jerk!
So in my last post I totally called my mom out on calling me too early--and what do I do? Call my parents--thinking its only like 10:30PM...so here is my formal apology! I guess sooner or later one of us will get it right!
First Day Jitters
The first day at a new job is a lot like your first day in High School--equal parts exciting and sickening.
My day started with my mom calling me way early*--hopefully soon everyone will realize that I am an hour behind the East Coast--so 7:15 am for you is butt crack early for me.
*Don't get mad mom--I love it when you call--no matter how early :)
So they wanted me to show up between 8:30 and 9:00 and not wanting to look like a kiss up--or a slacker I planned to get to work at 8:45. Perfect. I left on time--even had some extra time--so that when I got lost (FYI me getting lost is going to be a reoccurring theme in this blog) I would still make it. So I am pulling up to the building around 8:40ish--and low and behold I have forgotten my second form of identification. Awesome. So I call my boss Shawn--he was totally cool about it--and I headed back home. Of course I got lost on my way home--but now I think I have the way to work down pat.
I finally made it in around 9:15. So much for that perfect attendance record.
My day was great--your typical first day--paperwork--shaking hands--meeting new people. Lucky for me everyone seems great--and they are happy to have me!
No topicals today since the Vikes (look at me talking like a local) have a game and my station is airing it.
I got off early and headed to Ikea--full of college kids and screaming kids--I didn't last long and headed over to the Mall of America--I just went to Macy's and looked at the shoe department--I dont own ANY closed toe shoes--and so I have to get some--but I just cant--I hate it when my feet are hot. So there is a good chance that this blog will have a chapter about my frost bitten toes--as I couldn't bring myself to buy a single pair of shoes--they had a wonderful sandal/flip-flop selection--and ALMOST bought a few pairs--but I resisted...and left empty handed.
My drive home was awesome--and by awesome--I obviously mean not even close. My 10 mile/15 minute drive turned into a 35 mile/50 minute drive. Even my Garmin (I call him Lee) was getting pissed at me.
Also--something I don't remember from Driver's Ed--you can go Left on Red--and if you don't these sweet mid-westerners really let you have it!
Speaking of driving--I was just told that to switch my Drivers License I have to take a written test--so I am going to start studying now!
Looks Like She Made It Afterall
Well--I've made it to the big (midwestern) city! My roommate Francine is so nice and our place is AMAZING! Wonderful views of the city--a beautiful kitchen--and heated parking--what's not to love?!
I am keeping busy exploring the city--as winter is fast aproaching--it dipped down into the 40s on Saturday night--YIKES! Francine say's winter gets so cold--your nose hairs hurt--WTF? My new bosses definitely left that part out!
Saturday was spent at the farmers market--lunch at Tejas in 50th and France (a cute shopping district in the suburbs) and shopping at some local malls.
Sunday was a nice day and I think I finally caught up on my sleep--I organized my mess of a closet--I dont have furniture yet--so for the time being I am living out of space bags--you know those bags that you cram jam full of junk and then take the vacuum to--yeah they kinda work.
Sunday night we went to the Minnesota State Fair--WOW is all I have to say! You can get just about any kind of food on a stick! Seriously--and talk about people watching!
So I totally ate some naughty fair food--and it was totally worth it!
I had the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups--and if the fair ever comes your way--and you have the chance to partake--DO IT!
In addition to the bad-for-you food we saw some baby animals--Did you know that 200 baby animals will be born during the 2 week fair? It's the truth--I read it in a pamphlet.
Well tomorrow is my first day at the new job--so look for my blog--I am sure it's going to be eventful!

The Big Move
The car is all packed.
I snapped one last pic of the beach (I really am going to miss the ocean), said a teary eyed goodbye to my wonderful parents and brother Chris, and hit the road to pick up Ashley.
First stop...See Rock City.
It's a mountain top lookout...to get to it, you have to drive through Georgia to Tennessee only to drive back into Georgia again...kinda backwards, but hey it's the south....and the view is totally worth it.
We stayed in Nashville, TN that night at Hotel Preston--such a fun hotel! The elevator is covered in red cow hide and mirrors--the lobby and guest rooms are full of old black and white photos of celebrities!
The bed was so comfy--and they even have a pillow menu--you can pick the kind of pillow that you want--how great is that?
We ordered room service and Cosmos and vegged out in our PJs. Amazing!
Second stop--one Giant Indian in the middle of now where--at some random apple orchard--I dont even know what state we were in...maybe Illinois...maybe is the key word. I fed a goat at their petting zoo and that was the first time I have ever done that--gross. I wont post a pic--it's not pretty!
We stayed in Madison, WI that night at a place called AmericInn--not as swanky--but just as comfortable--I totally passed out mid conversation with Ash.
The next morning, we got up and found a huge pink elephant wearing Ray-Bans!
The last "big stop" along the way was a visit to Paul Bunyan and Babe--yeah the blue ox! They had this statue and even a Paul Bunyan museum--we didn't go in, but I got some post cards in the gift shop.
Next stop--Minneapolis! My new home! I am so excited for this new chapter in my life to begin!
